PCOS Diet Plan With Indian Food: A Simple Day of Meals

If you have PCOS you have probably been told to cut rice, cut roti, cut sugar and cut everything you like. Then you get hungry, eat all of it at night, and feel worse.
You do not have to give up Indian food. What helps most is steady blood sugar: meals that keep you full, with protein and fibre in each one.
This is general information. PCOS looks different in every woman, so check with your gynaecologist or doctor, and keep taking any medicine they prescribe. Diet supports treatment. It does not replace it.
The idea in one line
Pair carbohydrates with protein and fibre, and do not go too long without food.
A sample day
Breakfast: Moong dal chilla with curd, or vegetable poha with a boiled egg or a handful of peanuts.
Mid morning: A fruit and a few soaked almonds.
Lunch: Dal, a big bowl of sabzi, a salad, and one or two rotis. Millet rotis like jowar or bajra are good if you like them. Rice is fine in a small portion with dal and vegetables.
Evening: Roasted chana, makhana or sprouts chaat. Chai with less sugar.
Dinner: Light and early. Khichdi with vegetables and curd, or paneer or egg bhurji with a roti and sabzi.
What tends to help
- Whole grains and millets more often than refined flour
- Dal, paneer, eggs, curd, fish if you eat it
- A little ghee or oil is fine. Cutting all fat is not a good idea
- Regular meal times, not long gaps
- Sleep, walking and strength exercise, which matter as much as the plate
What tends to make it harder
- Skipping breakfast or lunch, then eating a big dinner
- Sugary drinks, bakery items and packaged snacks every day
- Crash diets. They rarely last and can make cravings worse
A realistic goal
Many doctors note that even a modest drop in weight can help cycles become more regular. Aim for slow, steady loss of around half a kilo a week, not fast results.
