A wholesome Indian recipe crafted for health-conscious eating: nutritious, delicious, and easy to make at home.

This high-protein paneer paratha is a diabetic-friendly twist on the classic Punjabi stuffed flatbread. We combine whole wheat flour with oat flour for extra fibre, and pack the filling with crumbled paneer, flaxseed, and aromatic spices. The result is a soft, satisfying paratha that helps keep blood sugar levels steady and keeps you full for hours.
Ingredients
How to Make It
In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, oat flour, flaxseed powder, salt, and carom seeds.
Add 1 tsp ghee and rub into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Gradually add water and knead into a soft, smooth dough. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine crumbled paneer, green chili, ginger, coriander leaves, roasted cumin powder, garam masala, amchur, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Divide the dough into 4 equal balls. Dust a rolling surface with flour and roll one ball into a 4-inch circle.
Place 1/4 of the paneer filling in the center, leaving a 1-inch border.
Bring the edges together to seal, then flatten gently. Roll into a 6-inch circle, dusting with flour as needed.
Heat a non-stick tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the paratha on it and cook for 1-2 minutes until small bubbles appear.
Flip, apply a few drops of ghee, and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Flip again, apply ghee on the other side, and press edges with a spatula.
Cook until both sides are golden brown and crisp. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
Serve hot with plain yogurt or mint chutney.

Health Benefits
This paratha is designed for diabetics: the combination of whole wheat, oats, and flaxseed provides slow-digesting complex carbohydrates and fibre, which help prevent blood sugar spikes. Paneer adds high-quality protein and calcium, while flaxseed offers omega-3 fatty acids. The spices like cumin and amchur may also aid digestion. With only 260 calories and 5g fibre per serving, it's a balanced meal for weight management and heart health.
